This is an actual country store with an actual garden. I’ve seen the owners working in the nearby garden. They serve a variety of vegetables and barbecued meats such as brisket, ribs, pork and chicken which they smoke out back. They serve barbecue but I wouldn’t call this place a traditional southern barbecue restaurant. They have seafood such as shrimp, but not some southern standbys such as fried chicken. Vegetables include collard greens, squash and sweet potatoes and are more rustic style. There’s a display of pickled and canned vegetables for sale.
The store is surrounded by developed neighborhoods. There’s a constant stream of people coming by to pick up meals to go. There’s only one table inside and two outside but it’s fun to sit inside if you can get a seat.
It can be a little difficult to find–even though it’s on a main drive. It’s on the south side of Stone Mountain–not the city, the actual mountain. So you have to go around it. But it’s worth it.
